"When I listen to Schipa for example I
am impressed with the subtly of delivery and beautiful line he produces, but after a while I am ready to go to sleep. The same for Kraus."

I too find Schipa lovely but boring....But Kraus?? My Kraus apparently was all too early or too late. Until I got a live 1971 Favorita. I can't get enough of that first aria....I play it over and over.

For GDS I've gone back to '54 and he still sounds like steel wool to me.
