According to the New York Times, James Levine has canceled all his performances with the company for the remainder of this year. Mr Levine whose health has been precarious for some time, fell while on vacation in Vermont. The fall injured his already damaged back and required emergency surgery. Most of maestro Levine’s assignments at the New York house have been handed to Fabio Luisi.
